I am a PhD Candidate in Geography and Environmental Systems at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). My dissertation research is about conservation governance of megafauna in southwest India. My general research interests include the governing of human-nature and human-animal relations, and I read broadly across political ecology, critical and human geography, biodiversity conservation, landscape ecology, and environmental change research. I am a member of the Laboratory for Anthropogenic Landscape Ecology.
I have lived in Baltimore, Maryland for a decade, where I am an active member of the DIY theater community and keep a small flock of chickens behind a 1914 row house. I am a co-founder of the Baltimore Rock Opera Society. You can reach me at jmargulies at umbc dot edu or jared at baltimorerockopera dot org.
